Hello + welcome to this tiny space on the internet! I created this blog (+ changed the name twice since) 14 years ago as a creative outlet from my career in the emergency room as a PA. After spending the past 7 (or so) years on social media outlets, I have decided to delete all of the ones associated with this blog and get back to the heart of blogging.
Many of you will remember how we came together in December and helped over 50 families fulfill their Amazon wish lists…..
see the post here!
I mentioned that I would be posting one family per month to help out for the year because there is so much that we can do to help others AND it truly makes a huge difference. I will be posting the families here with a little background to their story and a link to their amazon wish lists. Any way that you can help is amazing. Many of these things are $10 and under! Thank you so much for being the change we all want to see and supporting others that you do not even know. YOU MAKE ME SO PROUD that I have this community of helpers and I am truly thankful for each and every one of you!
On January 2nd, Ryan started feeling tingling and weakness spreading through his body until he was completely (temporarily) paralyzed over the next few days. On January 7th he was finally admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome. He has battled double pneumonia, acute lung failure, and other concomitant complications, in addition to the paralysis of GBS. He was originally intubated and put on a ventilator to breathe, but has since received a tracheostomy and is still on a vent. He is currently battling his second round of pneumonia. He has moved from the ICU to a LTACH (long term acute care hospital), which is a step in the right direction, but he has an incredibly long and difficult road ahead with many months of therapies at the LTACH followed by acute rehab. He has an 8-month-old son and a wife trying to support them both. Prayers and positive, healing thoughts are welcome and appreciated.
